Woman Sexually Assaulted Outside Police Station in Newport – Cops Hunt Key Witnesses
Police are hunting witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted just yards from Newport Police Station on the Isle of Wight.
Attack Outside Citizen’s Advice Bureau
The shocking incident happened between 11.40am and 11.50am on Monday, November 14. The 26-year-old victim was standing outside the Citizen’s Advice Bureau on High Street when a man approached and sexually assaulted her.
Witnesses Could Crack Case
The woman escaped and spoke to two women in their 20s nearby, who said they had previously encountered the same suspect. Detectives are urgently trying to track down these two ladies, believing they hold vital information.
“We would urgently like to identify the two women who approached the victim after this incident as they may have valuable information to assist with our enquiry,” said Detective Sergeant John Walton.
“We also want to hear from anyone who witnessed the attack or who has any related info.”
Man Arrested and in Custody
A 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault and remains in police custody.
