Man Fatally Injured in Holy Cross Stabbing
Paramedics rushed to St Hilda’s Avenue in Holy Cross just before 2.30pm on Monday after reports of a serious injury. Police quickly followed, along with the Great North Air Ambulance.
A 43-year-old man was found with fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Five Arrested Over Murder Investigation
- Three teenage boys were arrested on suspicion of murder earlier on Monday but have since been released under investigation.
- Two more suspects, aged 18 and 16, remain in police custody.
Police Appeal for Information
“First and foremost, our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this difficult time,” said Detective Inspector Louise Jenkins of Northumbria Police.
“A thorough investigation is underway, but at this stage, we do not believe there is a wider threat to the public. Our officers are still in the area pursuing several lines of inquiry.”

The victim’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist liaison officers during this tragic time.
