Emergency services rushed to a hotel fire on North Street, Midhurst, at 1:08am on Thursday, 16 March. Over 30 guests were safely evacuated from the building, avoiding what could have been a disaster.

A relief centre has been set up in Midhurst for those displaced by the fire. Residents are urged to keep windows and doors shut due to a large smoke plume hanging over the area.

North Street remains closed for the foreseeable future, causing travel disruptions. Commuters should plan alternative routes. Firefighters from Surrey, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Services, along with South East Coast Ambulance Service, continue to battle the blaze.
