The iconic school drama Waterloo Road is making a smashing return, and the cast couldn’t be more thrilled. One of the show’s stars spills the beans on the comeback, the brand-new series, and working alongside family on set.
Shock Call Brings Star Back to Waterloo Road
“I never in a million years thought this would happen,” admits the actor, recalling the surprise phone call from the casting director. “She told me to meet the producer, Cameron – a big deal! I had to act cool but was over the moon.”
After waiting for the green light, the cast got the ball rolling. “I left Emmerdale four years ago and haven’t acted much since, so getting back on the horse and doing what I love again feels incredible.”
New Series Promises Bigger, Better Drama
Dedicated fans, get ready! “This series is probably the best yet,” the actor gushes. “I saw episodes one and two on the big screen with cast and crew, and was blown away. If you loved the old show, you’ll definitely love this one.”
Donte and Chlo Still Going Strong
Fans keen to know about Donte’s love life can relax. “Donte and Chlo are still together – married with kids, living happily,” reveals the star. “They’ve gone from school kids to a married couple just enjoying life, which is a bit like me, to be honest.”
Talking parenting, Donte is “a great dad” but leans on Chlo to keep the family together. “He’s a hard worker who just puts his head down, but without Chlo he’d be lost.”

The actor sees plenty of himself in Donte. “We’re both hard grafting dads. But he relies on Chlo more, which will become clear as the series unfolds.”
Family Affair On and Off Set
Working with his son Teddy and niece Scarlett has been a rollercoaster. “At first, I was thrilled, but by day two Teddy and Scarlett were fighting and Teddy was in tears – I thought, what have I got myself into?!”
Despite the chaos, it’s been wonderful. “Scarlett’s grown from nervous to confident, and it’s brilliant to guide her. It’s amazing watching them develop on a show I was part of when I was just a bit older than they are now.”
Advice for Scarlett? Don’t Follow Dad’s Example!
The only tip for niece Scarlett: “Don’t do what I do!” laughs the star. “When I asked if she’d learned her lines, she said she’d learn them ‘just now’. That’s exactly what I do – but I told her not to!”
With support from her parents and uncle, Scarlett’s already smashing it.
