Graham Norton Set to Make Dramatic Career Change Away from the Red Sofa

Graham Norton, the beloved Irish talk show host known for his popular BBC program airing every Friday during its two seasons a year, is reportedly making a significant career shift. Norton will step behind the camera as part of a new venture following his departure from Virgin Radio.

Norton’s company, So Television, is teaming up with Tiger Mountain production and Bridget Jones’ director Dan Mazer to produce a new film. The shooting is set to commence towards the end of the year, with filming scheduled in Ireland for July and August. An insider revealed to The Mirror, “The film has been financed by Sky and will be shot in Ireland in July and August. It has not been an easy road to get to this point, and the team at So, who are learning as they go, have found getting movies made is much harder than they expected.

The insider added, “But this is a really exciting project and everyone has high hopes for it now the ball is really rolling. Talks are ongoing with some high-profile actors who would really make the script come alive.”

This new venture comes after Norton announced his departure from his Virgin Radio programme, where he had been a fixture for 13 years. Reflecting on his time at Virgin Radio, Norton said, “I’ve had a brilliant time here with Maria, Show Chef Martha along with my guests and the rest of the team on the Graham Norton Radio Show with Waitrose, but I am looking forward to having my weekends off for the first time in 13 years!”

He reassured fans, “It’s certainly not a goodbye, I’ll still be popping up here from time to time on Virgin Radio, and I’m looking forward to returning when I do.” Norton has been replaced by BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Angela Scanlon on the Virgin Radio weekend show.

As Norton prepares for this new chapter in his career, fans can anticipate the exciting projects ahead from the versatile TV personality.
