Jet2 Flight Diverted to Barcelona After Passenger Chaos
Rowdy Passengers Spark Emergency Landing
Passengers flying Jet2’s LS881 from Alicante to Manchester got more than they bargained for on Friday. Halfway through the journey, the plane made an unscheduled stop in Barcelona after disruptive behaviour forced pilots to divert.
Police were waiting on the tarmac at Barcelona-El Prat Airport to remove the troublemakers before the flight could continue.
Jet2 Cracks Down on Disruptive Flyers
A Jet2 spokesperson said: “Flight LS881 diverted to Barcelona so that police could offload some disruptive passengers. The aircraft continued to its destination after a delay. As a family-friendly airline, we take a zero-tolerance approach to disruptive behaviour.”
The chaos pushed the plane’s arrival into Manchester back by nearly three hours.
Another Jet2 Flight Hit by Emergency This Week
This latest drama follows hot on the heels of another Jet2 flight’s emergency. Earlier, flight LS676 from Tenerife had to divert to Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport after a passenger suffered a fatal medical emergency onboard. Despite the crew’s quick action, the passenger sadly died upon landing.
Passengers Praise Crew Amid Frustration
Travellers on the disrupted Alicante flight expressed frustration but applauded the crew for keeping their cool. One posted on social media: “Massive respect to the crew for keeping calm — just a shame a few idiots caused chaos for everyone else.”
Jet2 has vowed to keep up their tough stance, warning disruptive passengers they face police action, hefty fines, and even lifetime bans.
