Teen, 13, Faces Court Over Shocking Eastbourne Bus Stabbing
Knife Attack on Bus Sparks Police Hunt
A 13-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with grievous bodily harm after a stabbing on a number 1 bus in Eastbourne.
The incident happened on Saturday, 5 April, around 7.40pm near Cornfield Road by the Co-op. Police were called after reports that a teenage boy was attacked by a group and suffered a stab wound. Thankfully, his injuries were not life-threatening, and he has since been discharged from hospital.
Multiple Charges Laid Against Teen
The unnamed 13-year-old was initially arrested for attempted robbery and grievous bodily harm. Following police questioning, he now faces several charges:
- Grievous bodily harm (GBH)
- Attempted robbery
- Possession of a bladed article in public
- Attempting to pervert the course of justice
He has been bailed and is due to appear at Brighton Youth Court on 29 April.
Two More Teens Arrested as Investigation Continues
Sussex Police also arrested a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old linked to the attack. Both have been released on bail under strict conditions while enquiries go on.
Detective Inspector Sophie McGarel said: “This has been a complex and fast-moving investigation, where we have provided support to the victim and sought to ensure public safety as our first priority.
“We understand the public’s concern about this incident, and officers have conducted increased patrols in the town centre to provide reassurance.
“We continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward, and urge the public not to speculate online, as it may jeopardise legal proceedings.”
