80-Year-Old Pensioner Gets 13 Years for Brutal Care Home Stabbing
An 80-year-old man has been locked up for over 13 years after launching a savage attack on a care home staff member. Fred Butcher went berserk at a Maidstone residential home armed with a cleaver and knife, stabbing the woman multiple times on January 26th.
Frenzied Attack Stopped by Hero Visitor
The victim suffered serious stab wounds to her head and body in a random, brutal assault. The bloodbath only ended when a brave visitor saw the attack and intervened. He pulled Butcher away before pinning him down until police arrived.
Confession and Court Guilty Plea
Police arrived to find Butcher confessing he intended to kill the staff member but failed. At Maidstone Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was sentenced to 13 years and three months behind bars.
Judge Condemns Callous Assault
“This was a frenzied, unprovoked attack. Butcher aimed to kill over trivial grievances. Without the visitor’s quick actions, this would have been fatal,” the judge said.
The victim faces a traumatic recovery, both physically and mentally. Butcher’s horrific actions also terrified other elderly residents nearby.
The pensioner’s violent outburst shows total disregard for the vulnerable people around him. Justice has now been served with his hefty jail term.
