Teen Gunman Sentenced to 24 Years After Shooting Schoolboy in Face
Jacob Talbot-Lummis, 15, of Carol Avenue, Martlesham, was locked up for 24 years with an extra five years on licence after shooting a schoolboy in the face. The chilling attack happened on Friend’s Walk, Ipswich, where Talbot-Lummis ambushed his victim during his daily route to school.
Cold-Blooded Attack Planned for Months
The teenager drove his dad’s car and lay in wait for an hour before pulling out a double-barrelled shotgun stolen from his grandfather’s home. He fired point-blank at the victim’s face, then calmly stood over him. Witnesses say he even aimed the gun at a man who looked out after hearing the shot.
Grim Aftermath and Lifelong Injuries
The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening wounds, later suffering a stroke that left him partially paralysed and brain-damaged. He is still receiving treatment for his lifelong injuries.
Talbot-Lummis Claims it Was Just to Scare, Court Slams His Story
Talbot-Lummis admitted possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear but denied other charges. He claimed he was bullied by the victim and only wanted to scare him by firing the gun past him in a car. The court rejected this story.
Police uncovered that the attack had been planned for nearly a year. Talbot-Lummis had even told a friend about wanting to get a gun and shoot someone — comments dismissed as fantasy at the time.
Arrest and Court Details
Shortly after the shooting, Talbot-Lummis fled the scene but was arrested by armed police at 10:55am that same day in Westwood Avenue. The shotgun was found hidden in the back of the car.
