Gun and drugs seized after knife sighting in Sheffield
Saleh Mordi was stopped by police last October in Abbeydale Road, Sheffield, after reports of a man carrying a knife.
Illegal stash uncovered
When searched, officers found cannabis, wraps of crack cocaine, and a hefty amount of cash on Mordi. They also discovered a bag containing a handgun – a converted blank firing weapon capable of serious harm.
Abusive and threatening behaviour
Detective Inspector Ronayne from the Armed Crime Team said:
“Mordi was in possession of some dangerous items, not least a loaded firearm and Class A drugs.”
“He was abusive and obstructive during the search and made racially abusive threats while in custody.”
Harsh prison sentence handed down
On Friday 21 April, Mordi pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon, ammunition, Class A and B drugs, criminal property, and racially aggravated public order offences.
He was jailed for eight years and 11 months.
