Jason Lineker Jailed for Child Sex Offence After Retrial
Jason Lineker, 34, from Mouslecoomb Way, Brighton, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being found guilty of child sex offences. A unanimous jury at Lewes Crown Court convicted him on 27 August following a tense five-day trial.
Four and a Half Years Behind Bars
On 3 September, Lineker was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, with an additional year on a licence. He will remain on the sex offender register for life, severely restricting his access to children under a long-term Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Justice After Hung Jury Drama
This conviction came after a previous jury failed to reach a verdict last November, forcing a costly and traumatic retrial. The case relied on witness testimonies and chilling evidence from the young victim herself.
Detective Constable Angela from Brighton Safeguarding said: “The victim, a young child, was very brave, having to give evidence in two trials as a result of the hung jury outcome in November 2020.
