Feltham Man Jailed for Running Major Cocaine and Heroin Import Ring
Sulaiman Bawa, 52, from Peacock Avenue, Feltham, used his cargo company know-how to mastermind a massive drug smuggling operation. He helped criminals import tonnes of cocaine and heroin into the UK via air freight from South America, South Asia, and the Middle East.
Organised Crime Ring Busted
An Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) probe launched in March 2020 uncovered Bawa’s key role in a gang plotting to bring in over 3,000kg of cocaine and more than 2,300kg of heroin. If sold on the streets, these huge hauls could have raked in millions.
Hard-Hitting Sentence for Drug Lord
After an intense investigation by ERSOU and partner agencies, Bawa was caught and handed a hefty 15-year jail term.
“Bawa was a key cog in a sophisticated criminal network looking to import vast quantities of heroin and cocaine into the UK,” said Detective Constable Hayley Kendall from ERSOU’s Regional Organised Crime Unit.
“He went to great lengths to hide his activities, but our tireless specialist teams outlined his involvement and ensured he was brought to justice.”
Drugs Fuel Crime and Devastate Communities
Detective Kendall added: “The importation of drugs causes untold misery across the country, fuelling gang violence, exploitation, addiction, and a wave of low-level crime by those desperate to fund their habits.
“ERSOU is committed to hunting down offenders behind these criminal networks and delivering justice for communities across eastern England.”
