Drugs Bust: St Ives Man Nabbed with £1,300 Heroin and Crack
Mohammed Ali, 22, aka Azaan, made a dash for it when police spotted him on patrol in St Ives last June. The youngster darted along Renoir Close before scrambling over a garden fence towards Stirling Way. There, officers caught him trying to hide under a car.
Chased and Caught with Drugs Stash
During the wild chase, Ali tossed a black bag onto a garage roof. Police recovered it to find 82 wraps of heroin and 48 wraps of crack cocaine inside. The haul was worth an estimated £1,300.
Jailed for 30 Months After Guilty Plea
At Cambridge Crown Court on 28 October, Ali, of Little Farthing Close, St Ives, was handed a 30-month sentence. He pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
“Ali is well known to us, but immediately drew attention to himself the minute he began running away,” said Detective Constable Emma Melton.
“He tried his best to evade capture and ditch his drugs, but unfortunately for him he was quickly found and caught out.”
