35 Arrested After Petrol Station Protests Cause Havoc

Police swooped on two petrol stations after protesters glued themselves to pumps, signs, and vehicles, sparking chaos at the forecourts. A total of 35 people were arrested early on Thursday, 28 April, following mass disruption at Cobham and Clacket Lane service stations.

Criminal Damage and Aggravated Trespass Charges

Those arrested face charges of criminal damage and aggravated trespass. They are set to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court. Another 10 suspects failed to answer bail and have now been summonsed over the same offences.

Extensive Damage to Fuel Pumps

The protests caused serious damage: 35 fuel pumps were wrecked at #Cobham Services, and another 20 at #Clacket Lane. Protesters blocked access and stopped motorists from fuelling up during the disruption.

Ongoing Legal Actions

Four individuals were charged on the day and have pleaded not guilty. They will face trial at Lewes Crown Court. Meanwhile, five people were released with no further action after police confirmed they had no active role in the protests.
