Brutal Daylight Stabbing in Sneinton Leaves Victim Fighting for Life

A shocking daylight attack in Sneinton has landed a 23-year-old man behind bars for 23 years. Miran Amir viciously stabbed a 28-year-old just before 5pm on 13 July 2022 at the junction of Sneinton Dale and Port Arthur Road.

Victim Suffered Horrific Injuries

Police rushed to the scene after multiple witnesses reported a serious assault following an argument. The victim was found slumped against a wall with stab wounds to his head, body, and shoulder. His injuries were catastrophic – including bleeding on the brain, a collapsed lung, and a lacerated diaphragm.

Before fleeing, Amir also punched one of the victim’s friends in the face.

Justice Served After Nine-Day Trial

After a gruelling nine-day trial at nottingham/" title="Nottingham" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Nottingham Crown Court, Miran Amir of Colwick Road, Sneinton, was found guilty of attempted murder, possession of a bladed weapon, and assault causing actual bodily harm. Today (10 March 2023), he was sentenced to 23 years in prison.

Another local, 39-year-old Anna Wolska, was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. She encouraged the brutal attack and received a five-year jail sentence.

Police Praise Public and Uphold Zero Tolerance on Violence

Detective Constable Ruth Towle said: “This was a shocking and extreme act of violence causing catastrophic injuries. The brutal attack happened in broad daylight in a tight-knit community full of children and shoppers. It could easily have been fatal.”

“I thank the members of the public who came to aid and called for an ambulance, as well as the dedicated police teams who brought these offenders to justice.”

“This sentence sends a clear message that violence on our streets will not be tolerated.”
