Man Hurls Headbutt and Kicks Cops After Arrest in Peel Street Brawl

Chaos erupted just after midnight on Sunday, 5 November 2023, when police were called to a disturbance at a Peel Street home in Kent. Officers swiftly arrested 42-year-old Philip Weeks. But the trouble was far from over.

Violent Outburst Against Officers

As police detained Weeks, he lunged with a clenched fist and tried to headbutt them. He didn’t stop there — Weeks spat towards an officer, boasting he carried a transmittable disease. The violent spree continued at maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Hospital, where Weeks kicked a female officer while receiving treatment.

Guilty Plea, Bail Granted

The very next day, Weeks faced Medway Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to three counts of assaulting emergency workers. Despite his violent behaviour, he was granted bail and is set for sentencing at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 16 January 2024.

Police Chief Condemns Attack

“Weeks’ behaviour was utterly abhorrent,” said Chief Inspector Mark McLellan, District Commander for Maidstone. “Our officers handle volatile situations every day, but no one should face such disgusting and dangerous attacks while doing their job.”

“Assaults on emergency workers are totally unacceptable. We will prosecute anyone who threatens their safety.”
