Tragedy in Church Hill: Woman Dies After Ford Fiesta Hits Pedestrians
At 9.24pm on Saturday 2 September 2023, a Ford Fiesta smashed into two pedestrians on Church Hill.
One Dead, Child Injured
Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance rushed to the scene. A 28-year-old woman, later identified as Lisa Chapman, was taken to hospital but tragically died. A child received non-serious injuries and was also hospitalised.
Driver Charged Following Fatal Crash
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit named Bradley Cain, 25, from maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone, as the driver. He faces charges of causing Lisa Chapman’s death by dangerous driving. Cain is also accused of fleeing the scene and failing to report the collision.
Cain appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 6 September and was remanded in custody. He is set to face Maidstone Crown Court in October.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Officers continue their investigation and urge anyone with information who hasn’t spoken to police to come forward. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the area around the time of the crash.
