Man Jailed for Rape After Night Out in Birmingham

Abdullah Alnamer, 35, from Stadium Road, Birmingham, has been locked up for 15 years after preying on a young woman in the early hours of 23 January 2022.

Victim Targeted After Night Out

The woman, in her early 20s, separated from her friends following a night out in Birmingham city centre. Alnamer spotted her, followed her in his car, and tried to lure her inside his vehicle. The horrific ordeal ended with the woman being sexually assaulted by the next morning.

Police Crack Case with CCTV and Forensics

Alnamer sold the car used in the attack just two days later. But police, using CCTV footage and forensic evidence, traced the crime back to him. Officers arrested him in March 2023, charging him with rape.

Despite pleading not guilty, Alnamer was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court in February and sentenced yesterday (1 May) to 15 years behind bars.

Support and Safety Efforts Continue

It’s vital to remember that survivors of rape have lifelong legal anonymity to protect their dignity. Authorities continue working closely with local partners and venues to boost safety on nights out and prevent such crimes.
