Essex Man Locked Up for Lying to Women Online
Kevin Kombi, 29, from Beambridge, Basildon, Essex, has been slammed with a four-year, five-month prison sentence at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 31 March. He’s now on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and slapped with a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order to keep him away from women.
Fabricated Sex Claims Spark Harassment
Kombi used social media to contact two women, falsely claiming either he or someone else had slept with them. These fake claims caused the women serious distress, alarm, and harassment.
Detective Constable Emma Price said: “Kevin Kombi has shown he can’t follow the Sexual Risk Order he was issued with. His behaviour is deeply worrying and deserves punishment. He’s a manipulative, predatory offender. This sentence sends a strong message that the Met is serious about tackling violence against women and girls and removing sexual criminals from our communities.”
Repeated Breaches of Sexual Risk Order
Kombi had already pleaded guilty to three breaches of a Sexual Risk Order (SRO) handed down by Essex Police in July 2019. The order came after Kombi sent disturbing messages to a woman, claiming he had sex with her or watched others do so—without consent.
- First breach: July 29, 2021 – Kombi contacted a woman with fake stories that he had witnessed her having sex, using this lies to arrange a meeting. Both actions broke the order.
- Two more breaches followed in October and November 2022. Kombi failed to inform police about a new mobile phone and refused to hand it over during his arrest on November 14. He was charged on November 25, 2022.
Strict Prevention Order to Keep Victims Safe
The Sexual Harm Prevention Order bans Kombi from contacting women online, making false sexual claims, or offering money to meet up. It also restricts how he can use online communications. If he breaks these rules after release, he risks a jail term of up to five years.
