Brutal Dymchurch Stabbing: Man Jailed for 28 Years
Abdul Malik, 29, has been locked up for 28 years after stabbing a man more than 10 times with a kitchen knife in a sickening attack on Dymchurch High Street.
Knife Attack Leaves Victim Fighting for Life
The assault happened in the early hours of Wednesday, 12 January 2022. Malik targeted a man he knew, inflicting serious stab wounds before the victim managed to escape.
In a desperate attempt to flee, the victim jumped into a car but crashed into metal barriers nearby. Emergency services rushed him to a London hospital, where he was treated for life-threatening injuries.
Swift Police Action Seals Malik’s Fate
Malik was arrested shortly after the attack on Burmarsh Road. On 4 October 2022, following a trial at Canterbury Crown Court, he was found guilty of attempted murder.
On 20 December, the judge handed Malik a 28-year prison sentence plus an additional two years on licence.
“This was an extremely disturbing incident and it is only thanks to the response of medics that we are not dealing with an even more serious case,” said Detective Constable Max Pegler, lead investigator.
“I hope Malik’s quick arrest, conviction, and lengthy sentence now provide reassurance to the victim and the wider community.”
