Brutal Robber Attacks 91-Year-Old in Southsea Home Invasion
A man named Smith has been slammed in court after pleading guilty to multiple serious offences, including possession of a firearm without a certificate and carrying a knife in public.
Violent Home Invasion on Orchard Road
In September 2020, Smith forced his way into a Southsea home on Orchard Road between 6pm and 6.20pm. Inside, he demanded money and viciously assaulted a 91-year-old resident. Thankfully, the elderly victim has since recovered from his injuries, although nothing was stolen during the shocking attack.
Court Actions and Long-Term Ban
- Smith admitted robbery charges at Portsmouth Crown Court in November 2020.
- He was previously convicted in October 2019 for firearm and knife possession.
- A restraining order bans Smith from contacting the victim and bars him from certain nearby roads for ten years.
“The victim showed considerable courage during what was a persistent and sustained assault,” the judge said, praising the 92-year-old for his bravery.
The judge also urged the High Sheriff to reward the elderly man’s bravery for facing such a terrifying ordeal.
