Fly-Tipping Fiend Caught Dumping Rubbish Near Recycling Centre

Mohammed Afzal, 65, has admitted dumping waste illegally across Slough and Bucks. The prolific fly-tipper dumped rubbish behind homes, near footpaths, and beauty spots—sometimes just yards from a local recycling centre where it would have cost a small fee to dispose of waste legally.

Dumping Spree Spanning 2019-2020

Afzal used four different vehicles to dump building waste and other debris at nine locations between May 2019 and June 2020, including:

  • 27 May 2019 – Spackmans Way, Slough
  • 16 June 2019 – Spackmans Way, Slough
  • 28 July 2019 – The Myrke, Datchet
  • 3 December 2019 – Uxbridge Road, Slough
  • 11 February 2020 – The Greenway, Tylers Green, Bucks
  • 12 March 2020 – Allerds Road, Burnham, Bucks
  • 31 March 2020 – St Pauls Avenue, Slough
  • 10 June 2020 – Walton Lane, Burnham, Bucks
  • 14 June 2020 – Lake Avenue, Slough

He also admitted falsifying a waste transfer note and failing to produce a waste carrier licence.

Facing Heavy Penalties & Vehicle Seizure

Afzal appeared via video link at Reading Crown Court and has been remanded in custody until sentencing in December. Prosecutors are demanding costs for clearing the waste sites, along with the possibility of vehicle forfeiture and a driving ban.

“More unusually, the sentencing judge will be asked to consider the forfeiture of the vehicles seized and the defendant to be disqualified from driving,” said prosecutor Nicholas Ham.

Council Officials Furious Over Environmental Impact

Cllr Pavitar K. Mann of Slough Borough Council slammed Afzal for his reckless dumping. “This man has been not only a thorough nuisance but a fly-tipper who has dumped rubbish wherever he liked, leaving council staff to clear it up,” she said. “Fly tipping is not just a visual mess but an environmental issue.”

Bill Chapple OBE, Buckinghamshire Council’s cabinet member for environment and climate change, added: “This is an excellent example of how joint enforcement operations against waste criminals can produce results.”

“This is the worst kind of offender – repeated fly tipping for financial gain with complete disregard for both the environment and society.”

Sentencing will follow after court-ordered reports. The councils hope this case sends a strong message to waste offenders across the region.
