PC Murat Isik Jailed for Fraud and Forgery

Police officer Murat Isik has been locked up for 20 months after a string of fraud and forgery convictions. The Roads and Transport Policing Command cop was found guilty on multiple counts at court last month.

Convicted of Multiple Fraud Charges

  • Four counts of fraud by false representation
  • Two counts of using a false instrument with intent under the Forgery and Counterfeit Act
  • Three counts of making false statements to obtain insurance under the Road Traffic Act 1988

Isik was arrested back in June 2020 following a tip-off about fraud. He denied the charges initially but was convicted on 31 August.

Top Cop Slams Dishonesty

“PC Murat Isik has been found guilty of serious offences and has now been jailed for a significant period of time. Police officers must conduct themselves with integrity both on and off duty and PC Isik’s dishonest actions demonstrate he does not possess that value,” said Chief Superintendent Simon Ovens of the Roads and Transport Policing Command.

Ovens added that Isik’s police career is over, with misconduct proceedings already underway. The disgraced officer has been suspended pending a fast-tracked hearing now that criminal cases are closed.
