Stalker Luke Hancock Jailed for Threatening Woman and Brutal Bat Attack
Luke Hancock, 33, launched a terrifying attack on a woman just days after meeting her on 3 December 2022. Refusing to accept her rejection, he bombarded her with threatening messages all month, even targeting her children.
Car Smashed and Threats Fly
On the same day as the initial attack, Hancock smashed the woman’s car windscreen before sending more chilling threats. Despite her clear refusal to continue the relationship, he kept up the harassment right through to the end of December.
Baseball Bat Brawl Ends in Arrest
The nightmare escalated on New Year’s Eve. Police were called to a fight in Nottingham’s Mapperley Park area where Hancock punched a man and delivered multiple blows with a baseball bat, hitting his head, body, and legs. The victim suffered painful bruising but escaped more serious harm.
Hancock was handed the bat by 35-year-old Ricky Wilding, who was also arrested. Both men were charged following the violent incident.
Sentences Delivered at Nottingham Crown Court
Hancock, from Waldrom Road, Gedling, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, assault by beating, malicious communications, and criminal damage. He was jailed for two years and slapped with a five-year restraining order.
Wilding, of Wigman Road, Bilborough, admitted to possession of an offensive weapon and received an eight-month suspended sentence alongside 120 hours of unpaid work and 20 rehabilitation days.
Detective Constable Jodie Turton said: “These were nasty and serious offences which must have been extremely frightening ordeals for the victims. Hancock became obsessed with the woman and his repeated threatening behaviour made her extremely scared for her and her children’s safety. He then committed a serious assault with a baseball bat. The victim is lucky he didn’t sustain more serious injuries. I’m pleased this sentence has taken a dangerous individual off the streets and hope it brings some comfort to his victims.”
