Speeding Thug Sparks Multi-Car Smash in Newark
Chaos hit Newark on Tuesday night when a speeding driver refused to stop for police and ploughed into three cars before smashing into a garden wall.
Wild Chase Ends in Crash
At around 9.15pm on June 14, officers from the road crime unit spotted a car flooring it on Grange Road. The driver ignored police orders to pull over and continued swerving recklessly at high speed.
The chase ended abruptly when the car collided with three parked vehicles and crashed into a garden wall on London Road.
Young Driver Busted and Charged
- An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
- He’s been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.
- The suspect was taken to hospital for minor injuries but remains in police custody.
“The driver’s actions were incredibly dangerous and could’ve caused serious harm,” said Detective Sergeant Rob Palethorpe of Nottinghamshire Police. “They should consider themselves lucky no one was seriously hurt.”
“Speed limits exist for a reason. There is no excuse for endangering lives by driving recklessly.”
