Drug Dealer Busted with £400k Cocaine Stash in Car
Christopher Morris, 42, from Stone Cross near Pevensey, was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on Monday 11 April. He pleaded guilty to possessing four kilos of cocaine with intent to supply, along with money laundering charges.
Caught Red-Handed by Specialist Enforcement Unit
On 15 December last year, Morris had just left his home when officers from the Specialist Enforcement Unit (SEU) stopped his car. The SEU targets serious organised crime across the county’s roads.
As officers approached, Morris was alone. They spotted him looking behind and then checked the rear passenger footwell. There, they found a bag containing two smaller bags: one held four one-kilo blocks of cocaine worth up to £400,000 on the streets, the other contained £40,000 in cash.
More Drugs and Cash Found at Morris’s Home
Police later searched Morris’s house and uncovered more cocaine and several thousand pounds in cash. Morris claimed he was carrying the drugs and money under duress for dealers, but provided no proof to back his story. He had no choice but to admit his guilt.
Authorities Targeting Morris’s Assets Next
Police financial investigators are now preparing to pursue Morris under the Proceeds of Crime Act. They aim to seize any assets he gained from drug dealing through court orders.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to disrupt drug supply chains and keep communities safer.
