Margate Man Caught Red-Handed in Armed Ramsgate Break-In
George Mason, 29, from High Street, Margate, was nabbed at the scene during a daring break-in on St Augustine’s Road, Ramsgate, in the early hours of Friday 7 July.
Burglary Turns Nasty – Victims Tied Up with Cables
Mason and two accomplices smashed a window to gain entry. They threatened those inside with a wrench and claimed to be armed with knives. Three victims were tied up using electrical cables as the gang searched for cash.
One victim triggered an alarm, causing the burglars to flee. Mason was caught and arrested on-site, while the other two escaped with up to £1,000.
Jailed for Aggravated Burglary – Police Still Hunting Accomplices
After a swift Kent Crime Squad probe, Mason admitted aggravated burglary and was locked up at Canterbury Crown Court on Wednesday 18 October. Some stolen cash was recovered from him.
“This was an appalling offence during which victims were deliberately put in fear of violence,” said Detective Constable James Coomber. “We have quickly brought this offender before the courts. We are still keen to identify the other two men involved and urge anyone with information to come forward.”
