Man Hospitalised After Brutal Hip-Breaking Assault in Reading
Thames Valley Police launch urgent appeal for witnesses after a man suffers a broken hip in a shocking mugging in Reading.
Attack Caught in Busy Area at Dusk
Around 7pm on Thursday 15 October, a 44-year-old man and his brother were standing at the corner of Oxford Road and Weald Rise when a stranger suddenly charged at them.
The assailant grabbed the victim by his hoodie and violently swung him around, causing the man to fall and break his hip. The attacker then fled up Weald Rise.
Suspect Description
- White male, around 6ft tall
- Skinny build with dark hair
- Mid-thirties
- Spoke with an Eastern European, possibly Polish, accent
- Wearing black combat trousers and a dark grey jacket
Police Call for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
The victim was treated and discharged from Royal Berkshire Hospital. Detective Constable Hugh Bailey, leading the inquiry from Reading police station, said:
“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward. The area would have been busy at this time, so drivers with dashcam footage should please review their recordings.”
