Dorset cop sacked on the spot after vicious arrest of 15-year-old lad in Bournemouth town centre.

PC Lorne Castle Booted for Brutality

Police Constable Lorne Castle has been dismissed without notice following a misconduct panel that slammed his use of unreasonable and aggressive force during an arrest. The incident unfolded in Bournemouth, and a public hearing at Dorset Police HQ in Winfrith wrapped up on 29 May 2025.

Castle admitted to misconduct but denied gross misconduct. However, the panel found he breached professional standards, including authority, respect, use of force, and conduct. He will now be on the national police barred list, banned from ever working in UK policing again.

Bodycam Footage Shows Shocking Aggression

The drama erupted on 27 January 2024 when PC Castle responded to reports of two assaults. He soon found a 15-year-old boy matching the suspect’s description. But his body-worn camera tells a darker tale.

  • Hands placed on the boy’s throat
  • Shouting and swearing aggressively
  • Grabbing the boy’s face roughly
  • Threatening to use leg restraints

The panel ruled Castle’s actions were unnecessary, excessive, and failed to meet the expected policing standards. Although a knife was found on the teen later, no assault charges were made, and he was given an out-of-court disposal for knife possession.

Fellow Officers Blow the Whistle

Castle’s colleagues at the scene reported his behaviour as inappropriate and needless. Following the complaints, he was placed on restricted duties away from public-facing roles while the investigation took place.

Dorset Police Slams ‘Excessive’ Conduct

Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Farrell hit out at Castle’s actions:

“PC Castle’s actions were excessive, aggressive, and inappropriate. He let the police service and his colleagues down.”

She added:

“The majority of our officers act with professionalism and integrity, even in tough situations. Castle’s conduct falls far short of Dorset Police’s standards.”
