Seven Years Detention for 17-Year-Old
A 17-year-old boy from Brighton has been locked up for seven years after a terrifying knife attack on Gardner Street in January. The youngster appeared at Lewes Crown Court on November 6, receiving a four-year custodial sentence, followed by three years on licence. His identity is protected due to his age.
Knife Attack Left Two Seriously Wounded
The chilling assault happened on January 12 at around 11pm. The teen chased down a group of three friends. A 20-year-old man and woman were slashed in the stabbing, suffering serious knife wounds, while an 18-year-old woman was physically attacked.
Police Crack Down on Knife Crime in Brighton
Two 17-year-olds were arrested an hour after the attack. One was released without charge; the other faced severe accusations. In June, he was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon in public, and assaulting a police officer.
“This was an unprovoked and mindless act,” said DC James Botting, the lead investigator. “The defendant deliberately pursued the group to cause serious harm.”
