Man Charged After Digger Rammed Into Canterbury Cash Machine
A daring cash machine robbery attempt in Canterbury has ended with a suspect in custody. James Collins, 29, from Lenham Heath, Maidstone, faces charges over the brazen smash-and-grab.
Digger Used in Early Morning Raid
kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police rushed to St Martin’s Hill at 2.36am on Friday 12 November after reports that a digger was driven straight into a building’s front. A white Range Rover Evoque and a white pick-up truck were spotted outside the premises but fled the scene. Officers later found the stolen cash machine dumped on the A257.
Suspect Remanded Ahead of Crown Court Hearing
Collins was charged with burglary and dangerous driving. He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 13 November and was remanded in custody. He is due back at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 13 December.
