Car Thief Caught After £400,000 Black Country Spree
A brazen car thief who helped steal over a dozen vehicles worth £400,000 across the Black Country has finally pleaded guilty. Keltonjay Martin, 24, admitted conspiracy to steal motor vehicles at Wolverhampton Crown Court last Friday.
Cunning Car Crime Crackdown
West Midlands Police launched a major crackdown after a spike in car thefts between April and May 2023. Using digital forensics and CCTV, officers zeroed in on Martin as a ringleader. He ran a group chat to coordinate the heists, scouting prime targets before moving in.
After his arrest in June, police seized Martin’s own car — a stolen ride cleverly modified to hide its identity. He used the group chat to sell photos and videos of the stolen vehicles, turning crime into a slick business.
Police Hail Community for Pinning Down Thief
“Martin was prolific in stealing people’s cars across the Black Country, using multiple methods,” said Sergeant Matt Price. “Thankfully, following investigative work and help from the community, we were able to identify Martin as the offender and lock him up.”
