A Carlisle man has been locked up after torching a flat, risking lives and causing £60,000 worth of damage.

Fire Set at Multiple Points

Daniel Carter, 26, from Reeth Road, Carlisle, was jailed for 2 years and 8 months for arson and reckless endangerment. The blaze erupted just after midnight on 16 June 2025 in a flat on Citadel Row.

“Fires can quickly become out of control putting people’s lives at risk,” warned Detective Emma Barker from Cumberland CID.

“Thankfully, the occupants of the property and nearby flats were evacuated safely with no injuries.”
