Ramsgate Robbery: Suspect Charged After Wallet Theft

A man has been charged following a robbery in Ramsgate that saw a 50-something victim lose his wallet.

The Crime

At around 10.30pm on 21 October 2022, a man in his fifties had his wallet stolen in Albion Place. The wallet held cash, a bank card, and his driving licence.

Suspect in Custody

Iain McKenzie, 43, with no fixed address, was arrested and charged with robbery. On Tuesday, 24 January 2023, he appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody.

Next Steps

McKenzie’s case is set to return to court at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, 27 February.

Additional Investigation

A 38-year-old man from Herne Bay was also arrested on 15 December 2022 in connection with the robbery. Police continue to investigate.
