Samurai Sword and Crack Cocaine Land Maidstone Man Behind Bars
A local man was caught red-handed with crack cocaine and a samurai sword during a police raid in Maidstone.
Crack Cocaine and Sword Found Together
On 20 March 2019, Kent Police executed a search warrant at a private address on Wallis Avenue, Maidstone. It was part of a wider crackdown on knife crime and drug dealing in the area.
Officers found 39-year-old Ian Bigg sitting on his sofa with a samurai sword by his side. In front of him were 27 small bags of crack cocaine, a single bag of crack, and a quantity of herbal cannabis.
£520 Worth of Drugs and a Prison Sentence
The drugs had a street value of around £520. Police also seized electronic scales, mobile phones, cash, and the sword itself.
Bigg was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply.
Judge Hands Down 3 Years and 3 Months
At Maidstone Crown Court on 30 April, Bigg pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to three years and three months behind bars.
“Bigg intended to deal Class A and B drugs to local people and in doing so cause misery within the local community,” said Detective Constable Billie-Louise Keane. “He should be ashamed of his conduct and a prison sentence will ensure the most vulnerable are protected from his criminality.”
