Man Jailed After Unprovoked Attack on Dog Walker in Crawley
Attack Sparks Outrage in Quiet Neighbourhood
A 26-year-old man launched a shocking unprovoked assault on a dog walker in Crawley. On 15 January, a 53-year-old local was out with his dog in Waterlea when the trouble began.
Tense Confrontation Turns Violent
The victim was speaking with a friend when Callum Beale, from nearby Greenacres, suddenly appeared. Beale demanded the pair move away, sparking a heated argument. The situation quickly escalated as Beale threw several punches, leaving the victim with facial injuries.
Jury Rejects Self-Defence Claims
Police arrested Beale and charged him with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Despite his claim that he acted in self-defence after being put in a headlock, eyewitness accounts told a different story. At Lewes Crown Court on 14 October, a jury found him guilty.
Heavy Sentence for Violent Offender
Beale was sentenced to 27 months in prison. He was also slapped with a £190 victim surcharge, sending a clear message that violent attacks will not be tolerated in the community.
