Suspects Nabbed Amid Spike in Drink-Tampering Reports

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of poisoning after a string of unsettling incidents in Brighton and Hove. On Sunday, October 31, a 28-year-old from Hove was arrested for allegedly administering poison with intent to injure. The following morning, a 19-year-old man from Brighton was also taken into custody on similar charges.

Both suspects have been bailed as police scramble to get to the bottom of what’s been happening.

Nightlife Under Threat as Victims Report Puncture Marks and Illness

Police say there have been multiple reports from people feeling unwell during or after nights out, with some claiming to have found mysterious puncture marks or suspecting their drinks were spiked.

Authorities are urging anyone who thinks they’ve been targeted to come forward immediately for testing, stressing the importance of acting quickly before any toxins leave the body and evidence is lost.

Brighton and Hove police have ramped up patrols across bars, clubs, and nightlife hotspots seven days a week.

Chief Superintendent Justin Burtenshaw said: “We’re working round the clock to catch those responsible. We take these reports incredibly seriously and urge anyone who suspects they’ve been affected to contact police or bar staff immediately.”
