Eight Arrested After Three Police Officers Attacked Before Spurs vs Ajax Clash

Chaos erupted before the Tottenham Hotspur v Ajax Champions League semi-final on Tuesday, 30 April, as police clashed with troublemakers. Officers made eight arrests following violent disorder that left three cops injured.

Violent Disorder in Tottenham

At around 7.15pm, police patrolling Brereton Road, N17, spotted a gang smashing up pavement and walls, hurling debris in a dangerous melee. When officers stepped in to stop the violence, three were assaulted.

Medical teams treated the injured officers, but thankfully their wounds were not serious.

Three men, aged 23, 29, and 35, were arrested on the spot for violent disorder. Another 29-year-old was also nabbed, charged with violent disorder and assault on police. All remain in custody.

Four More Arrests for Pre-Match Offences

  • A 25-year-old man was arrested for racially aggravated public order offences and remains held.
  • A 26-year-old was charged with affray and is still in custody.
  • A 40-year-old was busted for drunk and disorderly conduct plus cannabis possession. He’s been charged and bailed to appear at court.
  • A 30-year-old was arrested for public order offences and common assault. He was cautioned and released under investigation for assault.

The police investigation continues as authorities work to stamp out violence and keep football fans safe.
