Magistrates have cracked down on a string of crimes across Erith and neighbouring areas, including stalking, dangerous driving, shoplifting, and drink driving.
Erith Man Jailed for Stalking Bombardment
Julian Miskin, 35, from Maximfeldt Road, Erith, outright admitted stalking between March 1 and 5 this year. Over four relentless days, he fired off more than 200 messages, made endless calls, and even turned up at the victim’s home.
Miskin was slapped with a one-year community order demanding 100 hours of unpaid work. On top of that, he’s been hit with a restraining order to keep him away.
Bexley Youth Smashes JD Sports Doors with Bat
Kaan Karaoglan, 22, of Glenview, Bexley, admitted charging into JD Sports on Bexleyheath Broadway with a wooden bat in hand. On August 31 last year, he smashed the glass doors, causing damage topping £1,000.
He also faced charges of possessing an offensive weapon. Karaoglan’s sentencing is due soon.
Belvedere Police Chase Ends with Suspended Jail
Harry Rossetter, 24, from Erith Road, Belvedere, faced a cocktail of charges including dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, and drug possession. On June 21, he recklessly drove a stolen Ford Kuga along Erith Road and Abbey Road, refusing to stop for police.
When caught, cops found him with drugs and a friction lock baton. Rossetter was handed a one-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, must complete up to 50 rehabilitation days, and is banned from driving for three years.
Belvedere Shoplifter Nabbed for £416 Haul
One Collins, 52, of Gertrude Road, Belvedere, caught stealing £416 worth of goods from Sainsbury’s in Bexley on July 7. He’s currently out on unconditional bail, waiting to be sentenced.
Orpington Driver Busted for Drink Driving on A20
Fuad Gafow, 27, from Whippendell Close, Orpington, was nailed for drink driving in a Ford Transit van on the A20, July 7. Breathalyser tests showed 67 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath – nearly double the legal limit of 35.
Gafow was fined £120 and banned from driving for 18 months. His ban could be reduced if he completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course.
