Former Labour Mayor Caught Helping Son Cover Up Teen Rape
A former Labour mayor from Bracknell Forest has been found guilty of perverting the course of justice after delaying police at her home—giving her son crucial time to hide key evidence. Naheed Ejaz, 61, obstructed officers investigating her son’s alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl.
90 Seconds to Destroy Vital Evidence
On 12 September 2024, police arrived at Ejaz’s house while probing Diwan Khan, 41, for the rape allegations. Instead of cooperating, Ejaz stalled opening the door. For over 90 seconds, she whispered in Urdu to Khan, who was inside hiding a missing phone. Authorities believe that phone contained damning videos of the attack.
Winchester Crown Court revealed Ejaz and Khan avoided saying “phone” directly. Their words sounded similar in Urdu and English. Bodycam footage caught Khan whispering “the big bell” with Ejaz replying, “keep silent, I know.”
Horrific Details of the Assault
- Khan spiked the victim’s drink with MDMA before attacking her.
- The girl blacked out and woke up naked in Khan’s car with no memory of what happened.
- Khan filmed himself abusing her while she was unconscious, including choking and slapping.
- He threatened to send the video to her mother if she reported the crime, warning: “I will slit your throat.”
Mother’s Defence Falls Flat – Judge Slams “Criminal” Loyalty
Ejaz, Bracknell Forest’s mayor from 2023 to 2024, claimed she delayed the police to wake her son and make him speak with officers. The jury wasn’t buying it and found her guilty of obstructing justice.
“We can’t be sure that Ms Ejaz knew the full extent of her son’s trouble,” said prosecutor Ed Wylde, “but a mother’s love stretched into criminality in this case.”
Ejaz admitted letting “mother’s love” cloud her judgment, but the court ruled she deliberately interfered with a serious rape investigation.
What’s Next for Ejaz and Khan?
Both were convicted at Winchester Crown Court, with sentencing due soon. Prosecutors are expected to demand harsh jail terms given the vile nature of Khan’s attack and Ejaz’s active cover-up.
