Pervert Threatened Teen with Rape and Self-Harm – Now Locked Up
A vile predator who threatened to rape a teenage girl and urged her to self-harm has been slammed behind bars in a ground-breaking Staffordshire case under the new Online Safety Act.
Shabaz Khokar Jailed for Over Two Years
Shabaz Khokar, 24, from Greenwich, received a hefty jail term of two years and five months. He admitted guilt for encouraging serious self-harm and sending threatening messages to the terrified victim.
Chilling Threats and Travel Plans Revealed
Khokar targeted the Staffordshire teenager with vile online abuse, including threats of rape. He even taunted her by sending screenshots of a train ticket for his trip straight to her home.
Staffordshire Police lay in wait at Stafford station, ready to arrest him on arrival. Khokar stayed silent during questioning and was initially bailed with strict orders to stay out of Staffordshire and away from the victim.
Relentless Abuse After Bail
Ignoring bail conditions, Khokar kept bombarding the girl with messages, pushing her to self-harm and drop the charges. His sick behaviour kept the victim living in fear.
This prosecution marks the first under section 184 of the new Online Safety Act 2023 in Staffordshire, which toughened online crime laws from 31 January 2024.
