Leicester Cannabis Gang Busted: Harsh Jail Terms Handed Down

Two Leicester men have been slammed with tough jail sentences after being caught producing cannabis between January 2018 and March 2020. Ossama Omar, 38, of Staveley Road, was handed seven years behind bars, while Mohamed Latif, 46, of Kitchener Road, got five and a half years.

More Sentences for Cannabis Ring Members

The Leicester Crown Court also sentenced others linked to the drug operation, all previously pleading guilty:

  • Besmir Kortoci, 30, of Courtyard Close, locked up for nine years and nine months plus five charges under the Identity Document Act.
  • Wesley Moden, 41, of Park Road, jailed for five years.
  • Gazmend Kortoci, 26, of Sheldon Street, sentenced to six years and nine months.

Previous Guilty Pleas Lead to Lengthy Prison Terms

Back in September 2021, several others tied to the same cannabis production scheme received their sentences:

  • Alban Elezi, 29, no fixed address – five years.
  • Bekim Ahmataj, 30, Shelford Walk – five years and seven months.
  • Gramoz Imeraj, 32, no fixed address – four years and six months.
  • Eneo Kortoci, 22, no fixed address – five years and one month.
  • Xhevahir Mici, 48, no fixed address – three years.

November 2021 Sentencing Adds to Cannabis Crackdown

  • Kevin Sinani, 33, no fixed address – three years, four months, two weeks.
  • Benet Kataroshi, 23, no fixed address – five years and two months.
  • Bekim Kataroshi, 27, no fixed address – four years, five months, three weeks.
  • Jetnor Sinani, 21, no fixed address – four years and eight months.

This marks a major crackdown on cannabis production in Leicester, with courts handing down tough penalties to send a clear message.
