Ex-Mayor and Son in Court Over Shocking Allegations

Son Accused of Drugging and Raping Teen

Naheed Ejaz, 61, the first Pakistani Muslim mayor of Bracknell Forest, is in hot water. She faces charges of perverting the course of justice after allegedly helping her son cover up evidence linked to a horrific crime.

Her son, Diwan Khan, 41, is accused of drugging and raping a 15-year-old girl he met on dating app Plenty of Fish in June 2024. Prosecutors say Khan spiked the girl’s Smirnoff vodka with MDMA, causing her to black out after drinking roughly half a litre.

  • The teenager reportedly woke up naked in Khan’s car with no memory of what happened.
  • Khan allegedly raped her while she was unconscious.
  • He is accused of filming the two-minute assault, which included choking and slapping.
  • According to prosecutors, he then showed the video to the victim, threatening to send it to her mother.
  • Khan allegedly claimed the girl “belonged” to him and threatened to slit her throat if she spoke out.

Khan denies rape, insisting he thought she was 24 and their encounter was consensual. The girl’s dating profile listed her as 19, but she was actually 15. Prosecutors say Khan targeted her because she was “troubled” and “rebellious,” undermining her credibility.

Mother Accused of Helping Son Hide Evidence

On September 12, police went to Ejaz’s home in Bracknell to arrest Khan. Prosecutors claim Ejaz delayed officers’ entry and spoke to Khan in Urdu, blocking police understanding. She allegedly helped him hide a mobile phone containing footage of the attack. Khan handed police a different phone instead.

Khan has admitted perverting the course of justice by hiding the phone but denies rape. Ejaz denies all charges.

Prosecutor Ed Wylde said: “A mother’s love for her son will stretch some way, and in this case it stretched into criminality.” He added Ejaz’s actions were deliberate attempts to conceal evidence.

Resignation and Ongoing Trial

Both Ejaz and Khan appear in court together as the trial continues. After the allegations surfaced, Ejaz quit her councillor role in October 2024, ending her term as Bracknell Forest mayor prematurely.
