Wiltshire Police officer sacked without warning after shocking misconduct hearing.

PC Gabriella Gilchrist Axed Over Serious Breaches

Wiltshire Police confirmed today that PC Gabriella Gilchrist has been dismissed without notice following a five-day misconduct hearing at Wiltshire Police HQ. Chaired by John Derryman, the panel found Gilchrist broke multiple professional standards, including Orders and Instructions, Honesty and Integrity, and Discreditable Conduct.

Serious Allegations Upheld – Immediate Dismissal

The panel upheld six serious allegations against Gilchrist. As a result:

  • She was instantly dismissed without notice.
  • She has been placed on the national barred list, banning her from any future policing roles.

The misconduct stemmed from her inappropriate relationship with a person she was instructed to avoid associating with. Not only did she fail to register this contact, but she also tried to persuade them to break bail conditions set to protect her.

Deputy Chief Constable Delivers Scathing Verdict

“PC Gabriella Gilchrist has been found to have been associating with someone it was entirely inappropriate to have contact with,” said Deputy Chief Constable Mark Cooper.

“She ignored direct orders, compromised her integrity, and interfered with legal protections placed for her safety. Her behaviour falls far below the public’s expectations of honesty and integrity, even when off duty.

“We are determined to root out any wrongdoing to preserve trust and confidence within our communities.”

Right to Appeal & Police Commitment

Under the Police Conduct Regulations 2020, Gilchrist has 10 working days to appeal the decision.

Wiltshire Police stressed that maintaining public trust is their top priority and that misconduct and dishonesty will never be tolerated.

Anyone worried about police behaviour can report concerns through the Wiltshire Police website or by calling 101.
