Spiderman-Masked Stalker Busted After Year-Long Gift Nightmare

A 22-year-old man from Eastbourne has confessed to stalking a woman for nearly a year, sending creepy presents and cryptic messages that left her terrified. Mason Rogers pleaded guilty at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on January 10 to causing serious alarm and distress to the 24-year-old victim.

Valentine’s Day Start to Sinister Campaign

Rogers kicked off his harrowing harassment in February 2024 by leaving a Valentine’s Day figurine outside the victim’s home in Hailsham. What started as a bizarre gesture spiralled into something far more sinister.

  • Months later, he delivered a childhood-themed book wrapped in birthday paper along with a card that ominously marked “six months and seventeen days” since his first delivery.
  • The card included a QR code linking to a video from the TV show My Stalker, ramping up the intimidation.
  • In December, the terror escalated with a package containing a doorbell camera, an additional camera aimed at the victim’s home, and a chilling note marking “ten months and sixteen days” of stalking.

CCTV footage caught Rogers disguised in a Spiderman mask and baseball cap, trying to avoid detection.

Police Crack Case With Shocking Find

Police launched a probe after the victim bravely reported the stalking. They quickly zeroed in on Rogers. A search of his home uncovered:

  • The victim’s name and address
  • Wrapping paper that matched the packages
  • A diary filled with detailed notes about her life and twisted plans for future gifts

Rogers kept silent during his interviews and remains in custody. He’s due back in court for sentencing on January 31.

Detective Praises Victim’s Courage

“Her bravery has helped ensure this offender is held accountable,” said Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Lewis of Sussex Police, calling Rogers’ actions “deeply concerning.”

The Sussex Police Complex Domestic Abuse and Stalking Unit (CDASU) worked closely with partner group Veritas Justice to support the victim and guide her through the ordeal.

Sussex Police urge stalking victims to come forward and report incidents online, by calling 101, or dial 999 in emergencies.
