CCTV Released After Emergency Worker Attacked in Salisbury
Police want to speak to a man caught on CCTV after he assaulted a paramedic in Salisbury. The shocking attack happened at 5pm on Monday, August 24.
The paramedic was treating a patient when the man pushed him and spat in his face. The attacker was then asked to leave, but only after the police were called. He fled towards Bowes Court.
Suspect Description and Police Appeal
- White male
- 6ft 2in tall
- Overweight with a bald head
- Wearing a red T-shirt, tracksuit bottoms, and trainers
PC Angela Holden said: “It is particularly repulsive to spit at anyone, let alone an emergency worker in the middle of a pandemic. It is completely unacceptable that a paramedic should face this level of abuse while trying to keep the public safe.”
She added: “We will do all we can to protect emergency workers and urge anyone with information to come forward.”
Ambulance Service Condemns ‘Unacceptable’ Attack
A South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust spokesperson said: “Our staff face violence and aggression every day while saving lives. Incidents like this have serious effects on them and their families.
“We fully support any action to protect our people and ensure they feel safe. Please respect them and help them help you.”
