Milton Keynes Man Found Guilty of Murder After Fatal Stabbing

Lee Sopp Convicted of Murder

Lee Sopp, 25, from Daniels Welch, Milton Keynes, has been found guilty of murder following a deadly stabbing last December. The unanimous jury at Luton Crown Court returned the verdict after a 10-day trial, convicting Sopp for the fatal stabbing of 22-year-old Mohamud Hashi.

Gruesome Attack in Local Woodland

The tragic incident occurred on 11 December 2019 in woodland near the footbridge leading to Fishermead from Milton Keynes town centre. A post mortem revealed Hashi died from a stab wound to the right thigh.

Additional Charges and Previous Pleas

While acquitted of aggravated burglary and wounding with intent, Sopp previously pleaded guilty to possession of offensive weapons and multiple drug-related charges, including intent to supply class A drugs such as diamorphine and crack cocaine. He also admitted possession of criminal property.

Police Statement and Next Steps

“I would like to thank Mohamud Hashi’s family for their support throughout this investigation and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult and challenging time,” said Detective Inspector Mike Roddy of the Major Crime Unit. “They now understand the devastating impact violent crimes have on families and the community, having lost their son, brother, and friend.

“Tackling serious violence is a priority for Thames Valley Police and we remain committed to ensuring offenders are brought to justice.”

Sopp was arrested the day after the stabbing and formally charged on 15 December. He is set for sentencing at Luton Crown Court on 22 October.
