Helicopter Drama in Rochester: Prison Absconder Nabbed!
Kent Police sprang into action after spotting a suspicious helicopter hovering over Rochester at 11.30am on Tuesday, 31 July. The aircraft’s odd behaviour raised red flags, pointing to possible criminal activity.
Suspects Arrested at Rochester Airport
When the helicopter landed at Rochester Airport on Maidstone Road, officers swooped. Three men were arrested on the spot. Jonathan Nicholls, 36, from Hargate Road, was charged with being a temporarily released prisoner unlawfully at large.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 2 August.
Two Others Bailed Pending Investigation
Also arrested were a 55-year-old man from Liverpool and a 59-year-old man from Rochester, both suspected of assisting a prisoner. They have been bailed until 28 August while inquiries continue.
