Drink-Driver Banned for 4 Years After Dodging Breath Test
A 27-year-old man from Wiltshire has landed a four-year driving ban after refusing to give a breath sample following a drink-driving arrest.
Stopped with a Staggering Breath Alcohol Level
Ross Philip George Miflin, from Kellaways, was pulled over on July 28 while driving his blue Subaru Impreza on Hill Corner Road. The police immediately noticed he smelled strongly of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet. Miflin admitted to drinking the night before.
A roadside breath test revealed a shocking 152 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath — over four times the legal limit of 35.
Refused Further Testing, Gave Excuses
Miflin was arrested for drink-driving and taken to Melksham custody. But once in custody, he refused to provide further breath samples. Initially, he claimed he had Covid, then later said he had lung cancer. He eventually admitted he was trying to dodge a harsher sentence in court.
Heavy Sentence Delivered at Salisbury Court
On August 13 at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court, Miflin was sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work and banned from driving for four years.
PC Mark Higgs from Wiltshire Roads Policing Unit said, “This was a serious offence for which Miflin faced the possibility of prison. We will not tolerate drink driving, and this case shows that trying to buck the system doesn’t work.”
Miflin’s conviction is a stark warning about the dangers and consequences of drink-driving — not just risking lives but facing severe penalties.
