Daylight Stabbing Near Plumstead Mosque – Man Charged

A terrifying stabbing unfolded in broad daylight near a mosque in Plumstead, south-east London. The Metropolitan Police rushed to Plumstead Road, SE18, just after 1pm on Friday 11 April following reports of a violent attack close to the Greenwich Islamic Centre.

Victim Hurt But Not Life-Threatened

London Ambulance Service found a man in his 30s suffering stab wounds at the scene. He was swiftly taken to hospital where medics confirmed his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

Police detained two men at the scene – one in his 30s and another in his 20s – on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Miles Benjimin, 32, from Harrow Manorway, Greenwich, was later charged with wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in public.

Benjimin faced Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 12 April and was remanded in custody. He is due back at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday 9 May. The second man, in his 20s, was released after further police enquiries.

Police Call for Witnesses

A Met spokesperson confirmed the investigation is ongoing as officers piece together evidence. Anyone who saw the stabbing or has information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting reference CAD 3438/11Apr. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
